Abstract
Sands in the neighborhood of Perranperth on the coast of Cornwall were examined and analyzed for mechanical composition, chemical composition, heavy mineral content, and sphericity. Among the conclusions drawn are: the sands were sorted by water rather than by wind, the smallest grains are not rounded by water, and shell fragments are not found in the coarsest or finest grades, probably due to greater fragility in the first instance, greater solubility in the last.
