This conference provided a series of papers concerned with fundamental geological principles of sedimentation derived from the study of well cores, which were on display for examination; nine papers and three abstracts are cited individually. Papers deal with sedimentary phenomena vital to the search for petroleum, interpretation of which can be based only on the study of cores. Core studies are from unexplored regions, as well as known Devonian and Cretaceous sands and Devonian and Mississippian carbonate sediments. Discussion includes a new exploration technique which bundles sedimentary features for environmental interpretation of facies in the light of recent sedimentation, and studies of small scale sedimentary and diagenetic features with large scale results.
