Walter Keller was born in Clay County, Missouri on March 13, 1900 and passed away in Columbia, Missouri on March 23, 2001 at the age of 101. He was an internationally renowned clay mineralogist and sedimentologist. He received both AB and MA degrees in Geology from the University of Missouri. He was an outstanding scholar as evidenced by membership in Phi Beta Kappa of which he was very proud.
