Abstract

The Otter Cove and Ansteys Brook Members of the Natlins Cove Formation of western White Bay, Newfoundland are described and redefined. These members include bedded and chaotic tuffs, ignimbrites and pyro-turbidites, and a lava-like lithology shown to be a rheoignimbrite. The paleogeography and volcanic history of the area are reconstructed, and the rheo-ignimbrite is described and discussed. Comparisons are made with other examples.
