We thank Landing and Geyer for their Discussion of our paper, thus drawing further attention to its significance. We do not wish to engage in a detailed “they say—we say” discussion with Landing and Geyer because it is clear from decades of disagreement that a meeting of minds on these topics is not likely to be accomplished. Instead, for the most part, we simply point out selected examples of what we consider to be misrepresentations of our work by Landing and Geyer and leave it at that.
