Abstract

Diaspore and kaolinite occur in quartzites of the Huronian Lorrain Formation in both the Bruce Mines and Flack Lake areas north of Lake Huron, Ontario. Regional metamorphism has in part converted these aluminous minerals to pyrophyllite. A later redistribution of silica and water resulted in partial conversion of diaspore and, to a lesser extent pyrophyllite, to a second generation of kaolinite.
