Abstract

Ammonites collected from red-weathering sandstones lying between the Heiberg and Savik formations north of Wolf Fiord on southeastern Axel Heiberg Island are identified as Protogrammoceras paltum (Buckman). These strata are probably latest Pliensbachian in age (Spinatum Standard Zone; Early Jurassic) and are tentatively correlated with the Jaeger Formation.
