Abstract

The determination of the fabric of a till is usually carried out by measuring the orientation of the principal axes of a number of pebbles in a till or by measuring the orientation of the principal axes of smaller particles under a microscope. The measurement of magnetic susceptibility of anisotropy of till provides an alternative method to determine the fabric of a till. As this technique has not been used extensively by glacial geologists, the purpose of this note is to provide a framework for sampling and reporting of results.
