Abstract

A seismic reflection and refraction survey has been carried out in the Norwegian Channel between 59.5 °N and 63 °N. The measurements and recent data from other parts of the channel show that the Norwegian Channel is mainly a result of sedimentation and glacial erosion during the Quaternary. The seismic refraction measurements indicate that the Tertiary sediments on the west coast of Norway extend closer to the coast than previously suggested.
