Abstract

The occurrence of narsarsukite in association with neptunite in the hornfels collar around the alkaline igneous pluton of Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, is reported. The optical, chemical and X-ray data for narsarsukite are presented and compared with those available in the literature. The relationship between ferric iron and epsilon and between titania and birefringence are traced in this paper. It is concluded that sodium and titanium metasomatism is responsible for the formation of narsarsukite.
