Abstract

Relative accuracies of quantitative mineral analyses by x-ray diffraction were tested for the method of internal standard, the method of calculating mass absorption coefficients, and the method of measuring mass absorption coefficients. The accuracies are comparable but the first two methods are more expedient. The first method is recommended when the compositions of the minerals and matrix are known. The major sources of error are in sample preparation.
