Abstract

X-ray powder photographs of 8 vanadinite specimens from 5 localities showed no significant differences in 26 values due to compositional variations such as the V:As ratio. Vanadinite samples must be diluted about 6:1 with powdered gum tragacanth to avoid increases in 2Theta as large as 0.8 degrees due to absorption. The data on A.S.T.M. card No. 2-0708 is comparable to values observed from highly absorbing samples. New intensity and d spacings are given together with calculated spacings using both the older 10.331 Aa value and a newly determined 10.323 Aa for a.
