New Minerals From Former Soviet Union Countries, 1998–2006 is an update of the author’s Minerals First Discovered on the Territory of the Former Soviet Union (reviewed in Can. Mineral.37, 779–781). Minerals First Discovered covered the period 1766 to 1997 and listed 582 valid mineral species. The present book adds 163 species, a remarkable increase of 28% in just eight and a half years.

New Minerals is organized in much the same way as the earlier volume. The book begins with a two-page introduction and a page of acknowledgments and abbreviations. This is followed by a 47-page alphabetical compilation...
