The Young Scientist Award is given to an individual who has made a significant research contribution in a promising start to a scientific career. The Mineralogical Association of Canada has selected Dr. James M. Brenan from the University of Toronto for the Young Scientist Award. His impact on igneous petrology, fluid geochemistry and ore genesis are out of proportion to the 11 years since his Ph.D. graduation from Rensselaer Polytechnic in 1990 (after a B.Sc. at McGill in 1985).
