In order to assess the stability of titanite in the anticipated environment of a disposal vault site 500-1000 m deep within a granitic pluton in the Canadian Shield, leaching experiments have been performed with natural and synthetic titanite, using a synthetic groundwater. The results indicate that titanite should be stable and suffer no net leaching under anticipated conditions in the vault.--Modified journal abstract.
