Static Corrections—Limitations and Effect on Seismic Data Processes

January 01, 1999

Chapter 3 described the computation of datum static corrections; this followed a review of the near surface in Chapter 2 and the need for datum static corrections. The seismic data shown in Figures 2-3 and 2-4 illustrated that datum static corrections were a necessary component in the production of a more focused, or less attenuated, common-midpoint (CMP) stack. This chapter discusses the effect that unresolved static corrections have on the data.
