Abstract

The Wedron Section is located in the Wedron Silica Quarry, Sees. 8, 9, 10, and 16, T. 34 N., R. 4 E., La Salle County, Illinois, 4 mi (6.4 km) north of 1-80 andjust west of the Fox River (Fig.1). From 1-80, exit north on Illinois 71 and continue northeast for 3 mi (4.8 km); turn west on Wedron Road and proceed 3 mi (4.8 km) to the entrance to the Wedron Silica Company in Wedron. To enter the quarry, permission must be obtained from the Wedron Silica Company (phone number 815– 433–2449). Exposures in the quarry are accessible by vehicle; high axle clearance is usually essential.
