This index lists the principal authors (CAPITAL LETTERS), coauthors (Lower Case Letters), editors (indicated by “(ed.)”), and authors of discussions and replies (indicated by an asterisk [*]) which are listed in columns 1, 2, and 3 of the Annotated Bibliography of Grand Canyon Geology. Volumes 1 and 2 were published by the Geological Society of America in 1983 and 1984, respectively, as Microform Publications 13 and 14. Volume 3 is the present volume.
The index is arranged in four columns. The first column lists the author or editor (according to the scheme noted abovo); the second column lists the date of publication (n.d. * no date); the third column lists the volume and page numbers (e.g., 1: 273) where the reference will be found; the fourth column lists the annotation number, a reference number continued consecutively through all three volumes. (Volume 1 contains annotations 1- 1030, Volume 2 nos. 1031-1152, Volume 3 nos. 1153-1305.)
The first part of the index is an alphabetical index, arranged by author's last name, then by year and by place within volumes 1-3. The second part of the index is a chronological listing, from 1857 to 1987, with authors listed alphabetically within each year.
