Abstract

Barite has been mined in the Coalcom án area since the 1950s. Compa ña Minera Autlán undertook a manganese exploration drilling program at the end of that decade with negative results; however, Zn and Ag values, of little interest to the company at the time, were significant.

What is now known as the La Minita Unit of Minera Capela, S.A. de C.V., was not discovered until 1976, when the Peñoles San Luis Potosí (S.L.P.) Regional Office, under Jose E. Gaytán Rueda, began searching for volcanogenic deposits
