The Carpinteria field lies within an eastplunging anticlinal fold located offshore of Santa Barbara County, California, in the eastern Santa Barbara Channel. The field includes portions of Leases OCS P-0240 and OCS P-0166 in Federal waters, and Leases PRC 4000, PRC 7911 (ex. PRC 3150), and PRC 3133 in State waters. The anticline is part of the Rincon structural trend which parallels the Santa Barbara coastline westward from Carpinteria field to include the Dos Cuadras Field. To the east the Rincon trend comes onshore and contains the Rincon oil field at the coastline. Further east the trend is offset slightly to the south and continues as the San Miquelito and Ventura Avenue fields (Figure 1). The offshore portion of the Rincon field is developed from directional wells drilled from onshore locations, from piers, and from an offshore drilling island. The Carpinteria field was developed from five offshore platforms; Heidi, Hope, Hogan, Houchin, and Henry
