The previous chapter discussed humankind’s use of the underground since his earliest encounters on planet Earth. They relied heavily on what the Earth produced and the sub-surface played a key role for their subsistence. Over the centuries, that role diminished and in more recent times most people became almost totally unaware of their subsurface.
