Few technologies are applicable everywhere, and 4D seismic is no exception. We learned in Chapter 1 that the technical chance of success for a 4D project is determined by detectability and repeatability. We will address repeatability in detail in Chapter 5. Here, we will use our knowledge of reservoir-depletion and rock-physics concepts, described in Chapters 2 and 3, to address detectability. In essence, we want to know where-and when-we can apply 4D seismic technologies effectively.
