ABSTRACT

Image analyzers of one sort or another have been commercially available for the past decade, and are eminently capable of generating copious amounts of data. The discussion in this session will center upon aspects of image analysis which have solved significant problems in sedimentology, sedimentology petrology, and paleontology. The topics that will be discussed include the measurement and analysis of the sizes and shapes of detrital quartz grains and microfossils, and the measurement and analysis of pore size and geometry and the relation of the same to petrophysical properties.
