Abstract

This chapter summarizes pitfalls in interpreting deepwater deposits using different data sets. All data sets used in petroleum geosciences are fraught with the potential for incorrect interpretation. To date, the exploration and development of deepwater systems have identified some interpretation pitfalls that all interpreters must consider during their daily work. These dangers are summarized below. All of these pitfalls can be avoided using a good common-sense interpretation and a balanced approach to integrating data sets.
