Many different opinions are held presently as to the origin of the stratiform lead-zinc deposits in carbonate rocks in central Europe. These include: ores of the High Silesia-Cracow basin; the North and South Alpine deposits with Bleiberg and Kreuth in Austria; Mezica, Cave di Predil and Auronzo; the deposits of the Vratsa subdistrict in the North Bulgarian Balkan; and those of Hermsdorf-Erzgebirge.
