Abstract

We start today’s trip by driving a few miles to the southeast edge of the town of Parker on Arizona Highway 72 to an intersection with the road to Swansea. At this intersection is (or was) the Parker Field Office of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. Turn left and set your odometer to 0.0. Cross the railroad tracks and head east onto Cactus Plain. Some of the following roadlog is taken from Heidrick and Wilkins ( 1980). Our route for the day is shown on Plate 2 and the regional geologic compilation of Spencer and Reynolds (1989), figure 7.
