Abstract

The tour retraces the route from Port Hardy towards Island Copper mine on Coal Harbour road (see First Day Road Log), then continues towards the village of Coal Harbour. Coal Harbour is a typical west coast fishing community; it prospered while whaling was a significant activity. During the Second World War it was an important base for anti-submarine patrols by amphibious aircraft.
