Abstract

Today's trip will visit the western and southwestern margin of the Lead-Deadwood dome. This structure formed due to forceful emplacement of the Cutting Stock, an early Tertiary, composite intrusion centered west of Lead. Gold properties in this area are owned by Golden Reward Mining Co., Wharf Resources (Annie Creek and Foley Ridge mines). Mineralization occurs in the Deadwood Formation, Pahasapa Formation, and many associated sills, laccoliths, and dikes. The route and locations of stops are shown on Figure 1.
