Abstract

The Fresnillo mining district is located around Fresnillo city at the center of Zacatecas state, about 60 krn northwest of the capital city of Zacatecas. Its geographic coordinates are: 23° 10′ 29″ north-latitude, and 102° 52′ 39″ west-longitude. The average elevation is 2,200 m above sea level. The district is easily accessible along the Panamerican highway, or by the Mexico-Ciudad Juarez railroad. The Zacatecas airport is located 35 km southwest of Fresnillo (Fig. 1).
