A discussion is given of the aspects of radioactivity, neutrons and gamma rays which are important in prospecting, and of the instruments used to measure gamma rays and neutrons. Instructions are given for calculating the size of the errors in measurements, and for determining the accuracy needed. The significance of the anomalies in surface gamma ray intensity is discussed in detail. A brief mention is made of gamma-ray measurements of samples, and of claims that surface radioactivity is related to oil pools. The methods, instruments, interpretation, and uses of radioactivity and neutron well logs are described.
