Abstract

Carbon isotope excursions (CIEs) from the latest Proterozoic and Cambrian have been linked with major global biotic/oceanographic events (e.g. Salzmann et al. 2004) and are viewed as important for Cambrian correlation. Zhu et al. (2006) provide a synthesis of the chronology, chronostratigraphy and carbon isotope stratigraphy for the Cambrian, identifying and naming ten CIEs.
