The Mesozoic medium-grade metamorphic terrain on the eastern part of Margarita Island, Venezuela, can be divided into a lower “greenstone division” and the conformably overlying Juan Griego Group. Highly varied rocks of eclogitic affinity, mostly found in situ, occur in both units but are most common in the greenstone division.
