Abstract

Figures 2a and b display the following features: 1) a Senonian carbonate buildup over a zone of former structural mobility; 2) extensional faulting during the Albo-Cenomanian, with emplacement of "fan deposits"; and 3) compressional folding with formation of reverse faults and the building of reefal formations.

The Albian fan deposits profile in Figure 3 is parallel to the axis of a major submarine canon descending from Well C: 1) mid-fan accumulation is characterized by foresets (offlap) in the Eocene, and fan deposits during the Albian which have been penetrated by Wells A and B; and 2) erosional unconformities are particularly well displayed near Well C and indicate successive phases of erosion in the canon.
