Abstract

A high-resolution aeromagnetic survey of a part of the Abitibi Archean greenstone belt of the Amos-Barraute area in Quebec was studied to attain a better understanding of the geology of the area using various processing methods. The apparent-susceptibility map offers higher resolution than the total-intensity map, and many rock types in the area can be mapped using contrasts in apparent susceptibility. The second-vertical-derivative map gives some useful information about the structure as well as the stratigraphy of the rock units. An interpreted geologic map was developed using these maps.
