Abstract

In the pages to follow, an attempt is made by the author to combine the results of the various recent gravity observations with several different kinds of pendulum apparatus. The author is not attempting to incorporate all possible results of observations by all observers. This is extra labor without significant improvement in the accuracy of the result. Unless no other observations were available, no results of work done with mechanical chronometers were used. No results with bronze pendulums were used except those of Thompson (1959) in North America. The Dominion Observatory bronze pendulums except at Bad Harzburg on the 1959 observations of Winter and Valliant resulted in gravity differences significantly different from those obtained by other observers. The D. O. interval from Teddington to Paris was
