At Liming, Nevada, veins cutting massive brucite are made up of hydromagnesite, granular brucite and acicular artinite. This is the second reported locality for artinite in the United States. Unit cell dimensions are: a0=16.54 Å, b0=3.14 Å, c0 = 6.18 Å; μ = 81°4′ determined by the optical goniometer. New optical properties: Zc=30°, 2V = 60°. Composition: MgO 41.81%, CO2 22.8%, H2O 35.46%. Differential thermal analysis curves of artinite and hydromagnesite are given.
