Abstract
At Liming, Nevada, veins cutting massive brucite are made up of hydromagnesite, granular brucite and acicular artinite. This is the second reported locality for artinite in the United States. Unit cell dimensions are: a0=16.54 Å, b0=3.14 Å, c0 = 6.18 Å; μ = 81°4′ determined by the optical goniometer. New optical properties: Z∧c=30°, 2V = 60°. Composition: MgO 41.81%, CO2 22.8%, H2O 35.46%. Differential thermal analysis curves of artinite and hydromagnesite are given.
