In September 2019, the chairs of the Foundations Committee at the U.S. Society on Dams (USSD) and the Dams and Levees Technical Working Group at the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists (AEG) began discussing the possibility of organizing a joint workshop. This workshop was the first formal collaboration between these two committees. The collaboration was relatively easy because many members of AEG and USSD had dual memberships and had been coordinating informally during the years before this effort.
