HotDeserts: Engineering, Geology and Geomorphology was first published in 2012 by the Geological Society of London, UK, in response to a need identified by the Engineering Group Working Party on hot deserts. When I was approached to review Hot Deserts, I was initially reluctant to accept, as I thought that the book's approach would deal exclusively with Middle Eastern and African deserts, given that the authors are consultants and academics from the UK. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that the book thoroughly discusses the worldwide desert regions, their distinct geomorphology, reflecting water, climate, geology, topography, etc.,...
