Robert ‘Bob’ Travis Clarke, palynologist and one of AASP-TPS’s most influential members and officers (Figure 1), died on 4 October 2024, in Arlington, Texas, USA, at the age of 86. His health had been failing throughout the summer and included five hospital stays, and many tests and courses of antibiotics. Bob was born on 17 November 1937, in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in East Meadow, Long Island, with his parents Tresper and Mary Louise Clarke, and brother Bill, all of whom predeceased him.
