ON COVER – The outcrops in the Aksu area, northwestern margin of the Tarim Basin. This is the best place for field study because it holds the complete succession of Paleozoic strata. Dolomites with abundant pores and fractures were well developed and the Cambrian source rocks were well preserved. See related article by Zhu et al., p. 1703 of this issue of the Bulletin.
