The article about energy resources by McCabe (1998), which covers everything from coal to contraception, obscures rather than elucidates oil depletion, a central issue for the AAPG. McCabe dismisses analysts into two camps, neo-Malthusians and cornucopians, both of whom are accused of basing their views on gut feeling rather than science. Much of the article misses the point, but I will comment only on a few items.
