Schmoker (1984) reported that variations with depth of carbonate porosity, θ, can be expressed as θ = a(TTI)b, where a and b are parameters estimated by curve fitting for specific data populations and TTI is Lopatin’s (1971) time-temperature index of thermal maturity. This relationship is a consequence of the individual mathematical relationships of θ and TTI with depth, and in no way implies a genetic relationship between the two.
