Abstract

475 exploratory wells drilled, including the discovery of 2 new oil and 4 new gas fields. Four new offshore discoveries were announced. California's total oil production for 1982 was 401.4 million bbl, a 4% increase from the 1981 record of 385 million bbl. Five unsuccessful wildcats were abandoned in Washington. The bulk of drilling activity in Oregon centered around the Mist gas field. Geothermal activity in California was concentrated in The Geysers, Imperial Valley, and Coso areas.
