Ludwig’s (preceding paper) discussion of our paper (Lee and Brookins, 1978) clearly points out one error in the reporting of data and infers that one of our conclusions concerning different ages of mineralization in the Grants mineral belt is unsupported by the data presented. We shall address each point in turn.
First, the correct, calculated radiometric age for barren-rock montmorillonites from the Ambrosia Lake district is 131 ± 26 m.y.B.P. (millions of years before the present) with an initial intercept of (87Sr/86Sr)0 = 0.7071 ± 0.0029. All errors are at the 1-δ level....
