We are in substantial agreement on the apparent synchrony of the stratigraphic positions occupied by salt and adjacent carbonates, on the affinity of salt and sharply subsiding tectonic elements, and on the necessity of the development of alternative hypotheses more nearly consonant with stratigraphic observations and geochemical principles Beyond these areas of primary agreement our ideas are widely divergent.
