The discussion by R. H. Hopkins, a friend of many years, is greatly appreciated. The calculations, however, have been checked and were found correct for the geometry involved; apparently this was not explained adequately.

Velocity problems, however, of the stack system may be critical in practically all areas. Intermediate and high-dip areas add to the perplexity. Moreover, the random errors mentioned by Hopkins are more serious in the stack system than in conventional surveys.
