In this basin gas producing sandstones of the Corcoran and Cozette Members of the Mesaverde Formation interfinger with the Mancos Shale. In electric log correlations, these two members and the Rollins sandstone can be traced in wells from the type outcrop near Grand Junction to the Grand Hogback outcrop, with thicknesses ranging from 0 to 220 feet or more. Shoreline trends are generally east-northeast in the southeastern Piceance basin, which is divergent from the broad north-south trend of the Western Interior. In the southernmost part of Piceance basin these sandstones were deposited in an offshore marine environment, and are silty with low porosity and permeability.
