Abstract

There was an over-all increase in drilling activity in 1963 in this District covering part of the Gulf Coastal Province, and the Paleozoic area of northwestern Arkansas. Fourteen new fields were discovered in North Louisiana and five new fields in Arkansas. The most important exploration in Arkansas was in search of gas in the Arkoma basin. In North Louisiana exploratory drilling was active in .e Willcox areas to the east and in the Saratoga-Anonona Chalk areas to the west. The Mississippian Embayment of northeastern Arkansas is the only geologic area which is non-productive.
