Abstract

In 1963 in Southwestern Ontario 93 exploration wells and 109 development wells were drilled. Off-shore drilling accounted for 35 wells. Oil production reached an all-time high of 1,205,300 bbls; gas showed a slight increase to 15,700,000 Mcf. Eighteen of the 93 exploratory tests were successful. In Quebec there was an increase in well drilling and field-party activity. The three most significant exploratory tests were on Anticosti Island. In the Atlantic Provinces, there was no development drilling and only one dry exploratory test.
