Gerald M. Richmond; Comments on discussion [by J. C. Frye and H. B. Willman (1962)] of Note 27; morphostratigraphic units in Pleistocene stratigraphy, by American Commission on Stratigraphic Nomenclature (1961). AAPG Bulletin ; 46 (8): 1520–1521. doi:
Discussion of Geoscience Abstracts 4-2820. "The term morphostratigraphic is misleading, for it gives a 3-dimensional stratigraphic significance to a body of rock that can be delimited only on the surface and can not be identified by the same criteria where buried. In the writer's opinion such geomorphic units should be clearly distinguished from true stratigraphic units, especially in Quaternary geology."
